About Phil Dezwirek

A committed philanthropist and businessman, Phillip DeZwirek has donated generously to medical as well as Jewish and Israeli causes. He endowed a theater and gymnasium at the Hospital for Sick Children, a pediatric center in Toronto. Further, he provided support for a stem cell research facility at Toronto Western Hospital and funded construction at the Marcus Neuroscience Institute of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Florida. Over the last three years, Phillip DeZwirek has contributed more than $5 million to charitable causes. He sits on the Mount Sinai Hospital Board of Directors.

Beyond his philanthropic work, Mr. DeZwirek presently guides a number of companies in such positions as CEO, president, and chairman. He serves the CECO Environmental Corporation, an enterprise based in Cincinnati, as founder and chairman of the board, positions he first obtained in 1979. Moreover, he assists the publicly traded API Technologies Corporation as chairman, and its subsidiary, the API Electronics Group, as CEO, treasurer, and chairman.

In preparation for his career, Phillip DeZwirek attended McGill University, where he studied toward a bachelor’s degree. While a student at McGill, he belonged to the Honor Society Students Council.
